What to Expect

This is an active adventure with very early starts. The Bromo sunrise involves a pre-dawn jeep ride and short walk; Ijen is a roughly 2am hike, steep in places, with sulphur fumes (masks provided). The rewards are extraordinary and unique. Between the volcanoes you travel through scenic East Java. Accommodation is simple and close to the trailheads. Bring warm layers — it's cold before dawn.
